Previous years I've always installed the new iOS and macOS betas right away, on my main work computer. But it always results in a few months of bugs and pain. Decided to install it on a virtualised machine, using the great UTM.
Steps!
- Download the free UTM virtualisation app for macOS
- Download the macOS Ventura restore image UniversalMac_13.0_22A5266r_Restore.ipsw (List of latests versions)
- Download Xcode 14 beta
- Run Xcode 14 beta, and install macOS and iOS components
- Run UTM, create a new Virtual Machine, choose the ipsw file, and install
Make sure to have enough space for your virtualisation disk, to install macOS. I first didn't make enough space, and the installation failed without any error messages. At the end I just selected 64GB.
